Nana Afua Care Outreach Extends Compassion to Street Children with Donation
Date: December 27, 2023
Location: Accra, Ghana
In a moving act of compassion and social responsibility, Nana Afua Care Outreach, a dedicated non-governmental organization committed to humanitarian service, reached out to street children in Accra with a generous donation on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. The outreach was part of the NGO’s end-of-year charitable initiatives aimed at touching lives and spreading love during the festive season.
The donation exercise took place across several key areas in Accra where large populations of street-connected children reside, including parts of Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kaneshie, and Agbogbloshie. The outreach team distributed cooked meals, bottled water, drinks, clothing, toiletries, and footwear, offering much-needed relief and a sense of dignity to many children living without stable shelter or care.
Founder and Executive Director of Nana Afua Care Outreach, Nana Afua Gyasi Danso, explained the purpose behind the outreach. “Christmas is a season of love, and these children deserve to feel included and valued, regardless of their circumstances. Our goal is to meet both physical and emotional needs—to let them know they are not forgotten,” she said.
The day-long exercise saw volunteers from the organization engage with the children not just by giving material items, but also by listening to their stories, offering words of encouragement, and sharing moments of laughter and warmth. For many children, it was a rare experience of care and human connection.
Several passersby joined in support, commending the NGO’s initiative. One onlooker at Kaneshie Market stated, “This is the kind of love the streets need. It’s not just about donations—it’s about restoring hope.”
The outreach concluded with a heartfelt prayer and the promise by Nana Afua Care Outreach to continue advocating for and supporting disadvantaged children throughout the year, not only during the holidays.
